A recent donation by Granite Lodge was made in support of Juniors Journey, to support a local child with Cerebral Palsy. The donation was made at Freemasons Hall, London Road, Leicester during the latest charity presentation day.
The article has been picked up by the local press, as seen above (Loughborough Echo) and below (Leicester Mercury). The donation of £2,310 will go towards fitting out Juniors home to aid his needs as he grows.
At our annual installation on Tuesday 3rd May 2016 our Worshipful Master, W.Bro Mark Stewart-Halford ably and sincerely installed our Master Elect, Bro. Gregory Scott Arnold into the chair of The Granite Lodge 2028.
It was a wonderful occasion which was made even more special with the presence of VWBro James Buckle DPGM and his accompanying officer W.Bro Mark Hancock PDGDC who attended on behalf of Provincial Grand Lodge.
The ceremony was conducted in the manor expected of such an occasion, with not only our Installing Master but also his officers performing some wonderful ritual.
The evening was interspersed with moments of light-heartedness, one such instance being when W.Bro Hancock remarked that our lodge had made history that evening by being the first one in the province of Leicestershire & Rutland to install a new Master - W.Bro Scott, after Leicester City FC had won the Premier League.
After his Installation, our new Master installed his officers and carried out his new duties in a very professional manner, culminating in a worthy closing accompanied by his new officers.
After the ceremony we retired down to our festive board, which was a very enjoyable occasion with over forty brethren sitting down.
Bro. Andrew Steele our new Senior Warden gave a comprehensive account of all the hard work The Provincial Grand Lodge of Leicestershire & Rutland carry out on our behalf when proposing the toast to the province.
VWBro James then thanked Bro. Andrew for his kind words and the fact he now had very little left to add to what had been said.
Whilst on the topic of toasts, our new Worshipful Master decided to take wine with all Leicester City F.C season ticket holders after their meteoric rise in fortunes this season, to which a number of the diners raised their glasses - unfortunately VWBro. James wasn't able to join them as he supports a team in the lower reaches of the Premier League residing somewhere up north in a place called Manchester.
We were honoured by the presence of so many visitors, over twenty in fact. Many had travelled from far away to be with us, one W.Bro from a lodge in France. Others a little closer to home, such as the brethren from various lodges in Norfolk including The Earl of Leicester lodge of which our very own RWBro. Gayton C Taylor PPGM is a member.
We were also happy to see visitors from our own province including WBro's from our daughter lodge, Enderby Lodge 5061.
It was really wonderful to see so many brethren sitting down to enjoy good food and good company all with smiles on their faces.
At the end of our festive board the brethren of our lodge retired after saying their goodbyes, to the front bar to meet up with our ladies who had had their traditional installation night meal, which had been organised this time by our new Worshipful Master's wife Natalie at Devonshire Place and again sang the praises of the establishment for the excellent service they too had received.
All in all I think it safe to say, we all had a very enjoyable evening and one hopefully that our new Worshipful Master, W.Bro Scott will remember for a long time to come.
